Nigerian Scholars Abroad, who hitherto had a cause for concern over their studies can now have a sigh of relief
This is so because, The Nigerian Government through the tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND says it is spendingclosed to over 8 billion Naira in the last seven months to address the issue of what he called STRANDED SCHOLARS
Executive Secretary of TETFUND,Professor Sulueman Bogoro at a media chat said the number of SYRANDED SCHOLARS is over one thousand in various institutions around the world
The E.S.TETFUND at a media chat, blamed the situation on the change of approach by his predecessor in handling tuition and welfare of Nigerian Scholars home and abroad
"it is unacceptable for desk officers, Rector, provost and Vice chancellors to hold on to money meant for scholars..."
"We discovered sometimes they keep the money for six months to one year..."
He decried institutions for hoarding and lodging funds meant for infrastructure and intellectual development, while revealing that sanctions will be meted out to defaulters by first quarter in 2020
